1555 Bishop of Gloucester Burned Alive

John Hooper, Bishop of Gloucester was burned at the stake on this day in 1555, as one of the Marian martyrs.

Mark this day by not burning anyone alive. (I know, I’m setting the bar really low on this one, but seriously… don’t stone people, don’t burn them alive, don’t behead them, don’t electrocute them, don’t kill them. Just don’t kill them. The state does not have the right to kill its citizens, IMHO.)
