On this day in 1624, St Kitts, the first English colony in the Caribbean, was founded. Celebrate by fleeing snow.

The first English colony was founded in 1623, taken over by the French in 1625. They united shortly thereafter to massacre the local Kalinago tribe. Then in 1629 the Spanish took over the island. Like a lot of Caribbean islands, St Kitts went back and forth time and again over the whole of its history, finally settling in the late 1700s in the British Empire.
